Manipur govt issues warning after public rally call by Kuki organizations

After Kuki-Zo organizations in Manipur reportedly called for a rally on August 31, the Manipur state government has issued a note warning that people found provoking the law shall be prosecuted.

Imphal, Manipur, August 31 (HBTV): After Kuki-Zo organizations in Manipur reportedly called for a rally on Saturday, August 31, the Manipur state government has issued a note warning that people found involved or provoking the law and order situation shall be prosecuted without exception.     

The government has issued a notice on Friday to take necessary preventive and precautionary measures along with a robust response mechanism to prevent any untoward incident and maintain law and order in the state. 

Anybody found involved or provoking the law and order situation in this regard shall be prosecuted without exception under relevant provisions of laws of the land, stated in the notice issued by N Ashok Kumar, commissioner (Home), government of Manipur.   

Any act of issuing public notice for organizing mass rallies and urging to shut down institutions, which can pose grave impact on the prevailing law and order situation and are likely to pose serious repercussions in the context of the ongoing law and order crisis in the state, is viewed very seriously by the state government with utmost sensitivity, the notice said.    

The government has appealed to the public including public functionaries to keep all business establishments, government offices, and private institutions open and to function normally. 

Further, it added that all heads of the central and state government institutions are to issue necessary instructions to ensure normal function of their institutions during the announced rally period.
